The West Allis Farmers Market and a growing number of local restaurants are the catalysts for a $62 million development that would create more than 200 apartments, as well as a brew pub, specialty grocery and food-oriented commercial buildings.

Mandel Group Inc. plans to develop the mixed-use project, named The Market at Six Points, on 7.6 acres between W. Greenfield and W. National avenues west of Six Points Crossing, and 5.8 acres between W. National Ave. and W. Mitchell St., west of the West Allis Farmers Market.

The farmers market is a big seasonal draw, attracting people from throughout the Milwaukee area, said Ian Martin, Mandel Group vice president of development.
