Until further notice, the iconic Mitchell Park Domes closed indefinitely on February 6, due to growing concerns about the aging structure. The Domes were completed in 1967 and have fallen into disrepair, with high maintenance expenses and nearly a decade of operating on a deficit budget.
The closure of the Domes has led to canceled events such as the annual Garden Train Show and weddings that were set to take place. Staff at the Domes are assisting couples to find other venues. The popular Milwaukee County Winter Farmers’ Market is still open every Saturday through April and is held in the Annex.
