JANESVILLE—Cops knock on doors all the time, and they often don’t know what’s on the other side.

Take for example the case of William A. Davis.

Two officers responded to a check-welfare request from a downstairs neighbor who heard shouting and banging in Davis’ downtown Janesville apartment July 12, 2011.

When the officers knocked on William Davis’ door, he charged at them. He was naked, 6-feet tall, 265 pounds and covered in blood, said Janesville Police Chief Dave Moore.

The officers used Tasers to subdue him.
