Green Bay Packer Sam Barrington teamed up with MPS and UnitedHealthcare to provide renovations to a student activity room inside of Milwaukee Public Schools’ Townsend Street School, 3360 N. Sherman Blvd. In addition to the renovations, all 335 students received donated backpacks of healthy foods from Barrington and UnitedHealthcare employees.

The renovation project is a part of a $22,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare to Sam Barrington’s Dreambuilders program. The grant will go towards supporting a nutritious meal program for eligible students.

Blessings in a Backpack is a national nonprofit that provides nutritious food for eligible school children who may otherwise have little or no healthy food to eat on weekends during the school year.
Beginning in August, Barrington and UnitedHealthcare will provide bags of healthy foods and snacks to 100 students at Townsend every Friday afternoon.
