The director of ‘Pretty woman’ and the creator of ‘Happy Days,’ Garry Marshall, died Tuesday at 81.

The creator of Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley has died. Garry Marshall enjoyed a long career in which he made Wisconsin the backdrop for two of the most famous comedies in television history.
Marshall died Tuesday from complications of pneumonia, after having a stroke.
Marshall helped create Happy Days, which chronicled a Milwaukee family, teenage friends, and a classic diner — and Laverne and Shirley, which starred Marshall’s sister Penny and Cindy Williams.
