Mr. Dye’s Pies expanding operations, leaving North Avenue location

Mr. Dye’s Pies has been fulfilling sweet cravings across Milwaukee for years, but often used rented kitchen space before he found a retail space on North Avenue. Johnathan Dye, opened his retail operation just before Thanksgiving in 2015 at 5513 W. North Avenue.

The cozy space is also the home of Fathead Jerky, which is owned by Christine McRoberts, who also owns long time Milwaukee staple, McBob’s Pub and Grill, 4919 W. North Ave.

Dye has worked out the brick and mortar location crafting sweet potato, key lime, Door County cherry pie and pecan pies for the last year, but yesterday he announced on social media where he has over 8,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook and over 28,000 followers on Twitter that he would be moving his operation out of the North Avenue location.

Mr. Dye’s Pies is heading to a part of the city that has seen businesses leave in recent years, but Dye’s might change that. He will be moving to 8103 W. Tower Avenue, near 76th and Bradley Road.

Dye wrote in a public Facebook post, “This week will be our last week on 55th and North avenue. We are moving our operation to a different kitchen to increase our pie making capacity. This will mean more pies for places we wholesale to and more pie ready for walk ins too. More details to come in the near future. 2016 has been our best year yet! Thank you for that and your continued support.”

This is good news for pie fans as Dye will have more options available to accommodate walk-in orders with the larger space.

Editor’s Note: This post has been updated to reflect the new location of Mr. Dye’s Pies.
