Ride-booking services expand to Fox Valley

They’re a modern 21st century taxi cab, but ride-hailing services are here to stay, and expanding across the state.

For several years, companies like Uber and Lyft has literally put technology in the drivers seat, well, in the passenger seat – really. If you’re trying to get around in a large metropolitan area, all you have to do is pull out your smartphone and request a ride though a mobile application, and a few minutes later, a driver will show up to take you where you need to go.

Already popular in places like Madison and Milwaukee, these services are heading to the Fox Valley area.

PostCrescent has more on what that means for drivers and riders

Tanya Ralston-Engle likes to drive.

During the week, the 52-year-old Appleton woman is a sales representative with West Business Services. But on the weekend, you can find her picking up and dropping off Fox Valley residents in her 2010 Ford Focus.

“For the most part, I’ve had some awesome riders,” said Ralston-Engle, who drives for Uber and Lyft.
