Construction on the Milwaukee Streetcar rolls ahead

Construction on the Milwaukee streetcar route will begin this spring. The first streetcar is expected to arrive in Milwaukee in December 2017. The initial contract to build four cars has been given to Brookville Equipment Corp.

City officials told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the company could eventually manufacture as many as 24 vehicles for Milwaukee. The first streetcar will start on W. St. Paul Avenue and connect parts to downtown to the city’s lower east side.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel 

Service for the initial downtown route is expected to begin in fall 2018, and the lakefront line is expected to start operating in 2019.
