After two decades of handing out roses the reality dating series, ‘The Bachelor’ and spin-off show, ‘The Bachelorette’ will finally feature a Black person as the lead contestant.

Rachel Lindsay, currently competing for Waukesha-native Nick Viall’s heart on the ‘Bachelor,’ will be the next ‘Bachelorette.’ This news was announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The show creator has been teasing with tweets for weeks about “the historic” event.

Lindsay, from Dallas, attended law school at Marquette University. She also worked in the State Public Defender’s Office and worked as a legal intern for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports

“I’m looking for someone who’s ready for what I’m ready for,” Lindsay said Monday night. Lindsay said she’s ready for a husband and to start a family.
