MILWAUKEE – For the third time in several weeks, threats prompted the Milwaukee Jewish Community Center to close. Today, an emailed threat forced the JCC to close operations early this morning.
A message on the Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC website reads, “The JCC will reopen at 9:00 am and safely resume scheduled operations. We apologize for the inconvenience and welcome our members.”
This is just a string of threats that have occurred at Jewish Community Centers across the United States. In January, dozens of JCC’s in 26 states received bomb threats, and in February, another wave of threats were made to 11 JCC’s across the country.
President Trump commented on the threats last month saying, “The anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community and community centers are horrible and are painful and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil.”
