MILWAUKEE- It’s not everyday that Milwaukee is recognized for it’s culture of cuisine. We do have a wide, growing variety of options for a city our size. Those options keep getting better, as local chefs are recognized throughout the Midwest region for their talents in the kitchen.

Local chef, Justin Carlisle has been named a finalist for the 2017 James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef: Midwest.

In February, three Milwaukee chefs were named semi-finalist in the category. Justin Carlisle is the owner of Ardent and Red Light Ramen.

The other semi-finalists were, Karen Bell, Bavette La Boucherie, and Thomas Hauck, c.1880.

The winners of the awards will be announced on May 1 in a ceremony at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
