Need to know: ‘A Day Without Women’

0

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Created by the same organizers of the Women’s March on Washington, today women across the globe are celebrating each other with ‘A Day Without Women,’ as a means to show the collective financial impact that women bring to the world and to send a message to President Trump, that women matter.

Organizers of the event are encouraging women to wear red and not participate in paid or unpaid work, and not spend money – unless it’s on a women-owned business.

This day also falls on International Women’s Day, which is designated by the United Nations to celebrate the social, cultural, political and economic achievements of women.

Local demonstrations are planned in several cities throughout the state.
